Giselle Courtney enjoys a reputation for originality, with twenty years experience producing unique jewellery and objects fabricated from glass and precious metals. She draws her inspiration from the sand and water patterns found throughout Australia's coastal and inland waterways.
As a leader in the practice of glass flameworking, Courtney is highly sought after for exhibitions and workshops throughout Australia, Asia and the US. A co-founder and former Director of the Glass Artists' Gallery in Sydney, her work has won numerous awards and is featured in collections around the world. These include: The Corning Museum of Glass in New York, the Kibun Collection in Tokyo, the Queensland Art Gallery, and the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
Courtney's recent commissions include large glass installations she calls 'jewellery for buildings'. These feature in private residences in California and Philadelphia, USA, and Sydney, Australia. She and her partner, Rodney Monk have established Courtney + Monk Studios a company that specialises in collaborative works for site-specific projects.
